Buying out the majority in a private JV
Our client held the minority (for historic reasons) in a business in which they were global leaders.

We provided advice on valuation and tactics for setting the bid terms but also intense negotiations between the two sides over an extended period. We worked closely with both the client's M&A team as well as the business line manager and participating actively in the negotiations with the other side in India and London.

At times negotiation between the two sides had broken down completely, and we were instrumental in holding the deal together. The vendors respected us for our straight approach and integrity as much as our client did, and this helped in communicating, structuring and negotiating aspects of the deal that would otherwise have been difficult to resolve.
